I’ve been slowly, but surely, building a fine collection of over-ripened, spotty bananas which I knew would someday make an amazing banana bread. Just as my freezer was beginning to look like a black banana wasteland, I finally got the perfect opportunity to break out my banana booty. My dear friend Irene turns another year wiser today, so over the weekend, I surprised her with a batch of banana bread hearts. As a teacher, she’s always rushing around, and since she’s always on the go, I thought these convenient treats would be a tasty alternative to her usual breakfast routine. This recipe was so easy, and yet the bread was crazy moist and dee-licious. I’m already working on building another collection of old bananas to make another batch of this bread for myself!

So CUTE! They look yummy too, and happy birthday, Irene!
I want to see a picture of a freezer stuffed with black 'nanners!
Yummy! The heart shapes are so sweet! Thanks for the idea of freezing the bananas. I always save them till they're suuuper black, & then don't use them & throw them away.
Breenuh, they freeze really, really well! I just thawed 'em out for a bit before mashing them, cut off an end of the peel and the banana slipped right out! 🙂
Wow, these look delicious. Want to send some from the next batch to LA? haha
that is really something. I love heart shaped everything, truly I do and my son is also into it which makes it fun. I have an ice cube mold that is heart shaped and a medium sized cake pan. I love your little tins. Where did you get it?
what an awesome idea!!
Damaris, my cousin was going to donate it so I snagged it from her! She said she got it from Target or Marshall's a long time ago. Here's a link where you can get a similar one tho! http://www.shopbakersnook.com/m5/4124–heart-shaped-cupcake-pan-petite-heart-shaped-mold-by-wilton-12-cavity-s-silicone.html
Thanks you! I'll have to check it out…maybe even put it in my christmas wish list. Don't you love hand me downs? I love when I get free stuff from people's kitchen pile.
Thanks for the info
These look delicious and such a fantastic idea to try! I use that heart tin nonstop ever since I got it right after seeing it originally on your blog. <3
