Hair: The Long & The Short of It

For most of high school, I wore my hair pretty short, mostly because I felt like it made my hair look fuller (I had, and sort of still do, a fear that I'm losing my hair at a faster-than-normal rate). In college, I got a bit more adventurous and would take the bus to the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica to get my hair cut by the students for $20. It would take hours, but they always gave me the most interesting cuts. A few years after graduating, I was surprised at how much I loved my hair when I grew it long. Now it's so long that it sometimes catches me by surprise when I move a certain way and feel the length of it against my back. It's also gotten kind of blah, so this weekend I finally decided to make an appointment to get it cut.

Lately I've been crushing on super super short hair styles (they just look so cool!), but I doubt I'll have the guts to lop it all off. Have you ever? Would you ever? Do I dare?

{a few of the vidal cuts I got in college. the one on the left is a side view. i loved how it was cut just so to fit over my shoulder. the one on the right was a faux hawk that I'm still not sure how I got talked into.}

i cut my hair super short in 2005, i remember the year because i had worn it long before that for what seemed like forever. i loved it for a year...then spent 2006-2007 cutting it even shorter and shorter to try and get the layers out so i could grow it out. i loved every short haircut i had, it's just that you have to maintain it; it will grow out, as hair tends to do, and that awkward-length stage is a real pain. i eventually stopped cutting my hair and now have it almost down to my belly button. i LOVE it, but i'm with you on this one, some days i just feel like pulling a britney and shaving my head...my advice: get it and regret it!

I've always had long hair - I would be so scared to cut it all off!
On the other hand, my best friend recently got her hair cut quite short and it looks lovely....

I have cut my hair short twice, both times because I really just wanted a change. I loved it...for like the first week and then I severely missed my long hair. Even after the first time I cut it short, I thought, well I really want it that way again, I'll like it better this time. But still, after a week, I regretted it. Especially now that we're in the Spring and (coming soon) Summer months, you're going to miss your long hair when you see everyone's beachy waves. Short cuts are so spunky and sassy, but that feeling wears off, trust me. :/

I always had long hair growing up and then a few years ago I chopped it and then would start to re-grow it, get bored and chop it again. I was attempting to do that again now Its all the way to my shoulders and tonight after work Im going to chop it. It's summer! Go for it! Besides.. it is just hair and you have your whole life to grow it out again :)

Mine is about half-way down my back. I cant' wait to get it cut...getting annoyed with it.
But I don't think I could pull off a pixie cut...I do think it looks gorgeous and shows confidence and gutsiness when girls do it.

Wow! I must say, your blog has to be one of the best written blogs that I have viewed in a long time. What I wouldn't give to be able to write posts that are as fascinating| as yours. I guess I'll have to keep reading yours and pray that one day I can write on a topic with as much knowledge as you have! Bravo!!
