Last week I had lunch with friends at Top Nosh Cafe in Willow Glen. I’d been wanting to eat there ever since my friend Sarah (the one who’s a fantastic cook) told me that they make the best salads and savory pies–and she was so right! Mixing seasonal ingredients like watermelon, pistachios and brie together, their salads are an exciting departure from your typical lunch fare. I got the half salad + pie combo and it was the perfect pairing. The Yukon potato pie (I’m a sucker for taters) had a flaky crust and piping hot, well-seasoned filling, a nice contrast from the light, refreshing salad.
