A few years ago I saw a really cool modern chicken coop which set off a desire in myself I didn’t even know I had to have my own chicken coop one day. It’s funny to think about keeping chickens when you don’t live on a full-fledged farm, but it’d be so homey having them in your backyard and just imagine how amazing it would be to gather your own eggs for breakfast each day. It seems like keeping your own chickens is growing in popularity though (or maybe I just never paid as close attention before) because I know at least 3 people at work who have them! I was telling my friend Lauren last week about how I wanted some chickens one day, and yesterday, she surprised me with my own desktop chicken coop complete with little chicks. Isn’t she the sweetest? The little sign has a tiny calendar on the flip side. I love it! It’s from Scout Creative’s 3D Calendar of the Month Club (that’s free!). She found it via this crafty blog.

What a sweet, thoughtful thing to do for a friend.
You're totally right about chickens being homey. I live in the city of Minneapolis and when my neighbor wanted chickens, we all had to sign a permit for him saying we agreed it was okay. Their coop is right by my backyard fence and they're so cute. They run right up whenever I walk to my garage in the morning to see if I have any treats and now I can't remember how it was before them. They always seem to be in good spirits which is CRAZY because it's dang cold up here…
that is awesome — I want that!!
What a sweet co-worker!
