Our new bed is amazing. It’s the Nyvoll from Ikea in light gray. It was a battle putting it together, but not sleeping on the floor makes it so worth it! The first few nights we slept in it I’d wake up and forget where I was (and then be pleasantly surprised when I’d remember Oh, that’s right—we have a bed now!), and in a fun way, it still kinda feels like we’re crashing in a hotel. Our striped duvet cover is from West Elm and our sheets are from PB Teen. Just a note on the sheets, they are such a steal! At first I thought it was a mistake that the queen sheets were just $30 while the full sheets were $79, but they’re still there on the website 🙂

No more mattress on the floor? Awesome!
I know! I can't believe we waited so long to sleep in a bed like normal people haha.
Did you use a box spring with the nyvoll bed? We're debating putting a boxspring on the floor inside the frame or setting one on the rails.

Hi Marie,
Yes, we used the slats from Ikea and our boxspring and I love it! We didn't use the slats at first but found that the boxspring would fall off the rails in the corners if we sat on the edges of the bed. I think the display in store uses just the slats and the mattress, but I don't mind the extra height added by our boxspring. Hope that helps!
We are thinking of getting the same bed and was very happy to stumble upon this post. Do you happen to know what the combined height of your box spring and mattress are? We just got a new cushy mattress with a low-profile box spring. I love this bed (and the WE bedding you have) but am worried the mattress will still up so high that it will create a weird crevasse between the mattress and the slanted headboard.
Hi there! I'm glad you stumbled here as well 🙂 I whipped out the measuring tape and the combined height of our box spring and mattress is around 15.5-16". Our mattress is pretty thick and cushy (it has a pillow top). I have noticed that the height does leave a crevice between the mattress and the headboard, but it's a pretty small one that I don't notice much. Otherwise, it's been a really great sturdy bed.
Hi there, I was wondering how tall the headboard is? Both from the floor and from the top of the bedframe. Thanks!
Hi! I know this is a rather old post but I'm actually interested in buying the Nyvoll bed frame but it's so hard to find reviews for it! Has it held up well over time? Is it rather sturdy? Does the foil scratch or peel easily? Thanks!
hi lily! it has held up amazingly. It still looks and feels just like new. the foil (if you are referring to the wood laminate) hasn't scratched or peeled off at all. i'd recommend it! it's a handsome, sturdy bed.
Thanks so much for the reply! I really appreciate it.
Previous poster was right, hard to find reviews! I'm thinking of getting a Nyvoll and I was wondering if it HAS to be propped up against a wall to be sturdy? I want to put it in my guest room sort of in front of a sliding patio door (no other space in the room) so it would not be leaning against a wall, would it be sturdy enough for 2 people to still lean on? Thanks!
hi valle, we don't lean it against our wall and it feels pretty sturdy for two to lean on. hope that helps!
