Strange things have been known to happen to unattended food in office kitchens: microwaved burritos end up with corners bitten off, smoothies are stealthily sipped and replaced, and half-eaten meatball sandwiches disappear in the fluorescent light of day. But what about food that you clearly have your eye on?
My sister Sophie was at work once, washing an apple in the kitchen sink, when a co-worker she didn’t know came up beside her. In the same sink, in the same stream of water, the co-worker started rinsing her own fruit right above Sophie’s hands! Sophie was too stunned to say anything because, really, who does that?!

I've had people steal my food from the fridge before and it always makes me mad. One time I had a Häagen-Dazs ice cream bar in the freezer and some guy ate it. He said he thought it was just something they had in there all the time for whoever wanted one and that is such a lie. He knew it was someone's! Luckily it hasn't happened in a while. I just don't know why people would eat someone else's food!
If someone had done to me what they did to your sister I would have been like "um, excuse me?" haha
