Chili and basil and soft white rice noodles, these are a few of my favorite things…
Today Alan and I made pad kee mao (a.k.a. Drunken Noodles) again for Irene’s birthday dinner. If there is anyone who loves pad kee mao as much as us, it’s her, so I found myself in the kitchen this afternoon happily chopping up a storm. The ingredients just looked so pretty in the light, and as I chopped, I had such monumental hopes for how they would all combine and taste together – in our tummies – that I had to capture the moment. There was something about cooking today that was very soothing and peaceful. I even dare say that I enjoyed cooking today. It may very well be that a cooking bug has come over me. Does anyone have any favorite websites or blogs which can show me how to make easy, yet delicious meals that don’t come in blue boxes with little packets of cheese powder?
i don't cook, at all! my hubby does it all. lately i've been on a kick for mac n cheese from the box. he showed me last night how to make it from fresh ingredients. it was soo good! cook the macaroni, melt some butter in a pan and slowly mix in flour until you have a thicker sauce. add milk and stir, add grated cheddar cheese and pepper and keep adding milk until desired thickness and voila! home made mac n cheese!
Dear Sobrina,
am just out of hospital again, and yours is the first blog I am catching up on – so looking forward to it. I haven't really kept up with mine this month – you are far more dedicated than I am!
Hope to read that things have been well for you and Alan.
from your fan,
Shaista
I think there is something about fall that just makes cooking more enjoyable. At least for me anyway…
When the ingredients look as pretty as that, it's a wonder why we would ever eat processed food. Until we run out of time to make dinner, that is. Check this gal out, she has a lot off good recipies and links:

http://www.thepioneerwoman.com She has a cooking section of her blog and a Tasty Kitchen section where people contribute recipes.
There are several food blogs that I heart! Here are a few for you to nibble on. : )

The Kraft Food and Family website has great quick and easy meals. They even have a 1 bag 5 dinners planner that will give you the recipes for 5 dinners, all of which only require one bag of groceries. The best part is, all you do is hit print and you get the recipes and the grocery list…no planning involved! They even have a healthy choice section. I love to cook, I find it relaxing!
So many great cooking blog suggestions! I will definitely post about anything notable that I cook up!
Rachel over on coconutlime.blospot.com is pretty exciting I think. I found an uber delish recipe for cherry muffins on there. She does all kinds of stuff: shmancy dinner items, bbq, baked goods, desserts. And all kinds of cuisines, too – Italian, Indian, Mexican, Vegan, etc. I also discovered thaitable.com the other day, too, when I had a craving for anything remotely Thai-related…which is ridiculously unavailable in Laredo, TX. I'm starving here, staring at my computer screen, drooling.
I love cooking too! I recently started attempting to cook more from scratch (rather than from the jar), and it's been lots of fun. Here are a couple of great sites to check out:

I also love doing things in the crockpot because when you come home you have food waiting! A good one is split pea soup: Put split peas, garlic, salt, and pepper (optional–chopped carrots, red onions, or whatever other veggies) in a slow cooker, then fill it with water about 4 inches above everything. When you come, home, stir and serve! Also, if you have leftover turkey it's amazing in this recipe!
http://www.allrecipes.com This site is the best because people rate each recipe so you can search for something like chili and search by which chili recipes have the highest ratings! It's awesome. However, my problem with it is that I often have no idea WHAT I want, so I need a site that tells me what to eat. Haha. Good luck!
these pictures came out great! and when you say "cheese powder" it really makes me realize how gross that stuff is.
