A Delicious Weekend at Ramen Dojo, Zazie & Tartine

General

Whoever said all good girls go to heaven didn’t quite have the full story. It really should be: all good girls go to heaven and they get to eat ramen, cupcakes, Zazie’s brunch and Tartine’s desserts all in one weekend because that’s what I did and it was pretty out of this world.

Ramen Dojo in San Mateo: Owned by the same ramen genius behind Santa Ramen, Ramen Dojo did not disappoint. If you can’t handle the heat, stay out of this kitchen — they specialize in spicy ramen. (Really spicy ramen.)

Teacake Bake Shop in Burlingame: There is nothing better than ending the night on a sweet note and Teacake Bake Shop certainly hit the spot. My pink velvet cupcake could have been a wee bit more moist, but the frosting was delicious.

Zazie in San Francisco: Best. french. toast. Ever. If you are ever in the area, you must try the French Toast Tahiti which is simply amazing and comes with caramelized bananas on top and a sweet walnut paste. We also tried the La Mer poached eggs which is a sassy way of saying Eggs Benedict, hold the Canadian bacon, dungeness crab instead, please. I’m not usually a fan of hollandaise sauce and was a little iffy on the crab, but the sauce was really light and the flavors with the crab came together so well.

Tartine in San Francisco: In the morning, in the evening, at supper time — there’s never a bad time for Tartine. Because they make such tasty things like lemon and banana cream tarts and vanilla lattes served in bowls. And morning buns. And bread pudding. Basically, it’s just too much goodness to not want to eat it all the time. They also make the most beautiful loaves of bread which I finally got to try this weekend. And I’ll just say that I would like to marry it, if it will have me.
