It’s been a while since I’ve had a good brunch, but then last week, while driving through San Francisco, we stopped at Brenda’s for some French soul food, and now I can’t stop thinking about it! I ordered the sautéed shrimp and cheddar grits which were amazing. (Do you like grits? I know a lot of people who don’t care for them, but I recently found out that I really like them.)

The last time I was at Brenda’s, it was half the size. Now the space is airy and bright. One wall is covered entirely with these beautiful mirrors.
Our whole table ordered the watermelon sweet tea and a plate of beignets. And while the beignets were good, the watermelon sweet tea was what really stood out. It’s what I want to drink every day this summer—I need to find a recipe!
