Ali’s Baby Shower

General

giant tassel garland
This weekend, I helped throw a baby shower for my friend Ali who is expecting a little boy early next year. We hosted the party in her charming apartment (Remember when I featured it here? People still comment about that post all the time). Ali didn’t want any fussy games or baby blue decorations, so we kept everything simple and fun. Here are a few pictures from the day.

giant DIY tassels
{I made these giant tassels for the “Oh Baby” sign. They were super easy: I followed the instructions for this DIY but used 8-9 long strips of streamer paper per tassel instead of crepe paper.}
mini pancake skewers
{We made mini pancake skewers that would be easy to eat while people chatted.}
egg sandwich cups
{My friend Sarah had the brilliant idea of making these egg sandwich cups topped with sliced avocado, tomato and bacon. She took slices of wheat and sourdough and molded them in muffin tins to make the “cup,” cracked an egg inside each and finished cooking them in the oven. They were so cute and tasty.}
cereal bar
{We had a cereal bar with all of Ali’s favorites.}
{And served virgin mimosas made with orange juice and Sprite.}
{Ali’s crafty sister gave her a lunchbox full of baby clothes—she converted women’s socks into baby leg warmers and basic onesies into v-neck “cardigans.”}
{Each guest wrote words of encouragement on pretty cards. We sealed them all up and gave Ali the stack to save and read in case she needs a little cheering up on any particularly long nights.}

{We spent a lot of time awwwing over the baby’s wardrobe complete with tiny elbow pads and holiday slippers.}
{Shower planners and future mama from left to right: Sarah, Ali, me and Stacy.}
{Congratulations, Ali!}
