San Francisco Lunch Date

General

I had a lunch date this weekend with my friend Jennifer, who lives an hour away in the City. She picked a restaurant in the Dogpatch neighborhood which I’d never been to and was excited to visit. Here’s how we spent the afternoon…

caltrain
Instead of driving, I hopped on Caltrain and had a relaxing ride up. People always say time spent on the train is great for reading and doing other productive things, but I ended up looking out the window and thinking about nothing in particular. It was actually quite lovely.

Once I got into the city, I had a little extra time to walk around and do some exploring. The neighborhood was nice and calm, with cute restaurants and shops. And it was a beautiful sunny day which matched Piccino, the bright Italian restaurant we were eating at, perfectly.

piccino pork and beef polpettes
We shared a burrata and fried polenta salad, the funghi pizza (those slivers of garlic added so much flavor!) and the beef and pork polpettes. I love eating with Jennifer because she’s always down to share 🙂

mr. and mrs. miscellaneous coconut ice cream

For dessert, we walked down the street to Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous to have ice cream. Jennifer got the coconut, above, and I picked a scoop of strawberry shortcake. (Isn’t her delicate wedding band pretty?) Afterwards, I had to catch the train and head back home.

Until next time, San Francisco!
