Liquid Sunscreen

neutrogena liquid sunscreen
I'm a little bit of a sunscreen fanatic, so I was surprised to discover Neutrogena liquid sunscreen just recently. It's all kinds of amazing, especially for wearing on your face. I wear it under my regular moisturizer and makeup and can't even tell it's there (no white residue, no smell and no greasiness!) We'll be wearing lots of it this weekend. It's supposed to be hot, and I can't wait to go swimming and on warm evening walks. Do you have fun weekend plans?

Rope Accents

Some wardrobe pieces, like white jeans and eyelet tops, have summer written all over them. After I saw this belt, I added rope accents to the list, too. It adds a fun twist to an otherwise simple accessory. Plus it makes me want to go yachting... :)

(I'm wearing the Anthropologie Boltrope belt (on sale!) and a chambray dress from Nordstrom (similar here)).

The Candy Store

the candy store
This weekend, a few friends and I stopped by The Candy Store which has to be the prettiest candy store in San Francisco. The walls are lined with big glass jars, and everything's so neatly displayed.

strawberries & champagne marshmallows
My friend Dianna got these marshmallows that tasted like strawberries and champagne. The label made us laugh.

 All the colors were irresistible!

I tried the Haribo mango gummies and black currant bon bons (delish) and Haribo strawberry puffs, Swedish coins and gummy hearts (not my favorite, but not bad either). Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever get tired of gummies, but I'm starting to think I never will.

Do you have a sweet tooth? What's your favorite candy?

p.s. Once I asked Alan what his favorite candy was. He said raisins.

Happy Moment #8: French Movie Night

french movie night: priceless the movie
trader joe's macarons
Last night, I came home with one thing on my mind: I wanted to veg. We just got one of these jumbo bean bags which is both ridiculous in how it swallows up our living room and how comfortable it is—the perfect place for my mission. I crawled in, put on Priceless and ate some French macarons for dessert. Have you seen Priceless? It's my favorite French movie. Audrey Tatou is gorgeous in it, and the male lead is heartbreakingly sweet. Their adventures are set in the dreamiest parts of Europe. I also picked up the macarons from Trader Joe's, and I'm now obsessed. They're so much better than the ones they used to carry. These ones are even made in France!

The other week, I was helping my sister Sophie prep for a job interview. I asked the dreaded question—"What's your biggest weakness?"—and she answered...

Travel Tip: How to Pack Jewelry

travel tip - how to pack dainty jewelry
how to pack dainty jewelry
On trips, I always avoid bringing delicate jewelry because everything ends up in a tangled mess. Well, my friend Dianna shared a brilliant travel tip: pack small, dainty jewels in a weekly pill organizer! Everything stays nice and tidy, and you'll be less likely to lose an earring. And if you find one with deep compartments (she bought hers at Target), you can even fit big cocktail rings. So smart!

Are you doing any traveling this summer? Would you try this?

Summer Outfit

summer outfit
j.crew-inspired flower lattice necklace
Do you have a go-to outfit for summer? I live in tan sandals and soft cotton shorts. Here are three of my favorite summer pieces:

1. These Gentle Souls sandals are so comfortable! I could wear them all day. And they have a small leg-lengthening wedge (bonus).

2. High-waisted cotton shorts are much more flattering on me than cut-offs, and these ones are a nice length. (By the way, am I the only one who thinks most shorts these days are way too short?!) I like wearing them with a tee tucked in (as seen here).

3. Chunky statement necklaces are a fun way to dress up shorts and a t-shirt. I've been in love with J. Crew's rhinestone necklaces for a long time, but their $200+ price tags were always too steep. So I was excited to find tons of Etsy shops which sell very convincing J. Crew-inspired jewelry for a fraction of the cost (I ordered the J. Crew flower lattice necklace at a 70% discount!)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Moment #7: Ring Details

champagne diamond rose gold engagement ring
Confession: I can't stop staring at my ring! A few weeks ago I was in a meeting with someone who had just gotten engaged, and she stared at her ring the entire time, too. Now I know why—they're so new and irresistibly sparkly! One of my favorite things about my ring is the gallery (which I learned, while ring shopping, is the space between the top of the diamond and the top of the band) because of the scalloped edge. (My love for scalloped edges mentioned here, here, here and here). My sister says it reminds her of a pumpkin carriage. :)

Happy Moment #6: Fruit Tarts

At Tartine this week, I couldn't decide between the lemon cream and the raspberry vanilla cream tarts. Alan's suggestion? "Get both." He always knows all the right things to say.

Happy Moment #5

roasting marshmallows
Yesterday evening I roasted marshmallows with my family and ate them right off the stick. They were warm and gooey with a light crisp crust. It felt so quintessentially summer!
